People's Opinion, Good or Bad
One person’s opinion can change the way you think, view someone or something and even the course of everyday life. Some of these opinions are awful and hurtful to people. Others though have a purpose to help people, a good intention. Now sometimes these good intentions go wrong and become bad ones. That’s why you should always put your own opinion first and no one else’s.
The world is going to end. We have all heard that one before right? Well in Armageddon Summer Reverend Beelson pushes that idea to the extreme, telling people the world will be scorched by fire from God. Jed‘s dad gets wind of this ludicrous idea from a meeting and tells his son “On July 27 the world is going to end pack your things were going on a mountain”. The same thing happens to a girl named Marina this time her mom draggers her and her seven brothers with her. Being pack on a mountain with 142 others that also believe the world will end.
One person with a lot of power telling people false information. Doesn’t that sound familiar? Like in 1930’s when Adolf Hitler told the people of Germany that the Jewish race was the problem for their rising inflation and famine. Telling them not to let them in shops or even kill them. It even happened in here in America with the enslaving of the African-American race. All because of one person opinion? Even in media people are pushing their thoughts. Kony 2012, we all have seen the video, going viral in days. Telling America that we need to push for the finding and killing of Joseph Kony the leader of LRA group in the country of Uganda. Even though people have said that he has been dead for over 5 years. Whatever people can claim fame to they’ll pull for it even if the downfall is a complete collapse of their life. This happens in the book when people start to realize that the worlds not going to end and that Beelson just did it to become famous.
I’m not saying having an opinion is a bad thing. It isn’t in fact it’s really great they you have an opinion. Although if that opinion involves if that total world domination then just maybe keep it to yourself, because people will listen and will follow. So please keep your own opinion first.
